Since roughly 1995, “Photojournalism” has become a very popular style of photography at weddings. Technically speaking, photojournalistic photography means that the subject does not know the photo is being taken. The definition is “journalism that presents a story primarily through the use of pictures”.
The opposite of this is “Traditional” photography. The definition of a traditional photo is when the photographer controls most of the aspects of the photo, such as the lighting, pose, and background.
Essence is a studio that has photographers that are skilled in the photojournalistic style. This does not mean that you will not have any traditional photos from your wedding; we understand that most people want some traditional photos of the bride & groom, families of the bride & groom, and the bridal party. At Essence, we have one “All Inclusive” wedding package that includes your photographer service, album and all of the items and services you want. As part of the standard package, every customer gets:

- Know your photographer – You will choose your photographer and see examples of their work before you book.
- Deposit payment only before your wedding date – You will pay a deposit of $800 to secure a specific photographer for your wedding date, and that is the only payment you will make before your wedding. After the wedding and after you get to see your photos; then you pick out which album style, how many pages, and you determine what is your total package price.
- Free* proof book – You get to keep your proof book which will have every photo taken at the wedding. Again, you get to keep it, no strings attached, no qualifying and once you take it out of the studio; you never have to return it.
- Free* digital negatives – One year from your wedding date, you receive the digital negatives of every photo taken at your wedding. No strings attached and no qualifying.
- Free* color, black & white, and sepia tone photos – You can change any of the photos taken at your wedding from color to black & white or sepia tone for no additional charge.
- Free* canvas – You will receive a beautiful 16x20 gallery wrap canvas of any photo from your wedding.
- Twelve hours of coverage – You will have the service of your photographer for up to twelve hours or until midnight, whichever comes first.
- Online hosting of all your photos – You will have every photo taken at your wedding posted to the internet for your guests to view and order.
- Unlimited picture count – Your photographer has free reign to take as many photos as required on your wedding day. Essence does not restrict the artistic ability of our photographers.
- Custom Album – This is the only part of your wedding package that has an impact on the price, depending on which style and how many pages you customize your album to be. See below for more album information.

*NOTE: All items described as "free" are actually free at Essence. Essence does not require you to "qualify" by spending hundreds or thousands of extra dollars to get your free items. At Essence, free really does mean free.
