A: We fully understand there are many choices of photography studios in the Chicagoland area to choose from; and we know that Essence isn’t always the best for everyone. However, Essence has become one of the best known wedding photography studios for a few reasons:

A: You will be matched up with a photographer that matches your preferences. Our professionally trained photographers have the ability to shoot in multiple styles.

A: During our meeting, we will show you different styles of photography and discuss what you like. We will select a specific photographer that is a good match for your style and show you their work. If you like that photographer, that specific person will be the photographer on your wedding day.

A: From beginning to end, it is documenting your big day to treasure for a lifetime. You will see your specific photographer’s work and see how passionate Essence's photographers are about their art.

A: Both. Everything is shot in color and can be converted to black and white. There are a number of effects you can add to your photos after the wedding, this includes black & white, sepia tone, and color select photos.

A: This all depends on you. Our photographers can work independently or with your direction. During your consultation, we will work with you to match you up with the right photographer.

A: Essence has a two step process before the wedding to ensure that your input is received and understood. First, two months before the wedding, you will receive a questionnaire asking for everything from the best man’s cell phone number to identifying your family members to asking if you have a shot list. Second, the photographer will call you the week of the wedding to review your timelines and questionnaire information. You will both be on the same page and be able to discuss any last minute changes.

A: Yes, the photographer’s work and demo that you see will be the photographer that shoots at your wedding.

A: All of Essence's photographers have years of experience and will prove to be an invaluable asset. Their experience and knowledge will help guide you whenever you have questions. In addition, all Essence photographers have completed a training course to meet Essence standards.

A: Of course! Just let us know and we'll make sure you get it.

A: Absolutely, all photographers have back up equipment with them at all times and we have “on-call” photographers for emergencies.

A: Twelve hours up to midnight. Additional time is available.

A: Because we use a photojournalistic approach to photographing weddings, we shoot during the whole event. Typically we start about 2 ½ hours before the ceremony start time at the bride’s dressing location.

A: You will receive a proof book with every photo taken at the wedding, online hosting of all the photos taken at your wedding will be posted under Essence’s “Proofs” section, a 16x20 inch canvas print of a photo of your choice, and a completely assembled wedding album.

A: 9-14 months our average.

A: Unfortunately not. Essence only provides services for weddings in the Chicagoland area.

A: The photographers at Essence use only top-grade, professional grade cameras and lenses with the best optics. We normally work with at least 2 cameras and a variety of lenses.

A: Unfortunately, we do not.
